Automation & Control
›› Building Automation System
Building Automation Systems (BAS) optimize the start-up and performance of the heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment and alarm systems. BAS greatly increases
the interaction of mechanical subsystems within a building, improve occupant comfort, lower
energy use and allow off-site building control.
›› Car Automation
-The paper deals with the partial automation of cars for
safety purposes. We have tried to automate the car to prevent the
danger (obstacles around the car) in the best possible way by
incorporating intelligence to it with the help of microcontrollers and
interfacing them with the basic structures of the braking, steering and
the acceleration systems of the car. The actions required are taken
only if the driver is not able to steer the car out of danger even after
the driver is alerted. We have given preference to a particular
direction with respect to other directions in the most practical way
and in a particular sequence so that only one system (i.e. braking,
steering and the acceleration) works at a given instant of time. The
proposed system can be implanted in a manually driven car at a very
low cost.
›› Escalator Automation
Install industrial-grade light sensors to every escalator or other people-moving device that operate the mover when a rider is present, from start to finish. Escalators run ALL THE TIME, even when no one is on them - this is an absurd waste of electricity. Motors can be retrofitted to accomodate the start-stop sequence. Elevators operate on a stand-by mode until called to a floor - this is an equivalent idea.
›› Home Automation
Home automation takes care of a lot of different activities in the house. Some of these things are as simple as turning on the sprinklers at a certain time every day and detecting burglars in the middle of the night. Others are much more advanced like sensing the presence of the person in a room and adjusting light ambiance, the temperature in the room, the volume of the music, according to different factors like the day of the week and the time.
›› Motor Control
Motors account for a large portion of energy consumption throughout industry. Motor failure can have negative business impact in both downtime and maintenance costs. However, motor failure can be prevented and energy usage can be significantly reduced by implementing an Intelligent Motor Control Solution.
